AGE IN PLACE CONSULTANT | PATIENT ADVOCATE | CARE COORDINATOR

Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy

Meet Karen Campbell, MBA, RScP, CHW

Founder | Aging-in-Place Consultant | Community Health Worker | Patient Safety Advocate

Karen Campbell, MBA, RScP, CHW, is the Founder of My Age In Place Advocate, Inc., an aging-in-place consulting and patient advocacy practice based in Hicksville, New York. As a Certified Community Health Worker through the College of Staten Island (CSI), CUNY, Karen helps older adults and families navigate healthcare, coordinate services, connect with community resources, and create personalized plans for aging safely and independently at home.

With more than nine years of experience in home care, care coordination, and patient advocacy—including more than six years as a Client Specialist with Touching Hearts at Home—Karen brings practical experience supporting older adults, family caregivers, healthcare providers, and care teams.

Her work focuses on aging-in-place planning, care coordination, patient advocacy, healthcare navigation, home safety, caregiver support, hospital-to-home transitions, and community resource navigation.

A Commitment to Safe, Dignified Aging in Place

Karen believes aging in place is about more than remaining in your home. It is about having the right plan, resources, support, and advocacy in place to promote safety, independence, dignity, and peace of mind.

She works with older adults and families to understand their needs, identify gaps in support, navigate complex healthcare and social service systems, and develop practical next steps that honor each individual's goals and preferences.

Community Health Worker Perspective

As a Certified Community Health Worker through the College of Staten Island (CSI), CUNY, Karen brings a community-centered perspective to her work.

She understands that health and well-being extend beyond medical care. Housing, transportation, social connection, caregiving, home safety, access to resources, and the ability to navigate healthcare systems can all affect an older adult's ability to remain safely at home.

Karen helps bridge the gap between individuals, families, healthcare providers, caregivers, and community resources.

Patient Safety & Advocacy

Karen's commitment to patient safety extends beyond the healthcare setting. As a Patient Safety Advocate and member of the Pulse Center for Patient Safety, Education & Advocacy and the Greater National Advocates (GNA) network, she is dedicated to helping individuals and families become informed, engaged participants in their healthcare.

Her approach is grounded in listening, education, communication, preparation, and advocacy—helping families know what questions to ask, what information to gather, and what steps to consider.

Why My Age In Place Advocate?

My Age In Place Advocate was founded from Karen's professional experience in home care and a deeply personal family experience that reinforced the importance of planning, education, and advocacy.

Karen saw firsthand how overwhelming it can be for families to navigate aging, caregiving, healthcare decisions, and unexpected transitions without a clear plan.

That experience became a mission: to help families know what to do before a crisis occurs.

Today, My Age In Place Advocate provides personalized guidance to help older adults and their families plan, coordinate, navigate, and advocate for the support they need to age safely and confidently at home.

Karen's Approach

Karen takes a person-centered approach to every family she serves. She recognizes that no two aging journeys are the same and that the right plan must reflect the individual's needs, preferences, home environment, support system, and goals.
